You Should Be Living v2.0

V2.0 is freshly baked and just out of the oven, its still even a little warm.  The new site is finally up and running!

The Design

I really enjoy seeing the design process when other people update their sites. I like seeing the initial sketches and the transformation to wireframes and then finally on to the fully completed design. Unfortunately, I can’t show off that process because I skipped the sketches and wireframes and went straight to Photoshop. I usually don’t do that, but because it is my own site, I already knew what I wanted! So what you see on the live site, is basically what I had in Photoshop.

The Backend – WordPress

This time around, I built the site using WordPress. This was my first really big project creating a fully custom site, using WordPress as a CMS, not just a blogging tool. As someone used to using ExpressionEngine for all my CMS needs, crossing over to WordPress was challenging. Ok, it was really frustrating at times. Eventually though, I came around to understanding how to utilize themes, posts, pages and plugins. ExpressionEngine and WordPress each do different things well, and I’m glad to have experience building a fully custom site with WordPress after building numerous sites with EE.

Overall, I’m pleased with the design, and happy to have a brand new site.
